Hello Chums,
Saw this nice little trike at the weekend and the owner tells me it has MX5 discs and calipers on the back. Has anybody out there in Monkeyland done a similar job using  Mazda bits? It appears to be running MX5 wheels too. I think it might be easier to these parts than Mk1 Golf stuff.
 Cheers, Tom

As ever, anything is possible, usually dependant on ability and what kit you have. On my last build I fitted BMW K100 wheels and Brembo discs/callipers, to Triumph Spitfire uprights, so like I said, and within reason, anything is possible................ Wink Wink..Morrag

As you say Morrag, anything is possible with the right kit and ability.I lack the latter and  I was just hoping someone had done this before and could give me a few pointers. Smiley

Judging by his last post, he might not be a MX5 owner for much longer.... Smiley

Oi you lot !
Then again you might be right. Cheesy
Not had to look at the rear brakes so far but they appear to be simple units and there are so many Mk2 and 2.5 being scrapped, due to the dreaded tin worm, that parts are easy to get. New stuff tends to be a tad expensive.
I assume that it would just be a matter of making a suitable mounting plate to take the caliper carrier.

Use the entire drive train and you could make a rapid trike.

 Grin
The whole IRS and diff are held in a fairly compact subframe, apart from the top of the coil overs, which could easily be so sorted by the addition of mounting plates. Not the prettiest rear end but for anyone planning a trike it might be worth thinking about.

If anyone is serious about the MX5 rear end I have a full set of plans from an ex kit car company, giving full details and measurements for a naked back axle build
