Happy St Georges Day, to all English folk.

I am English and proud, I make no excuses for this.

Where I was raised, a small village in Lancashire, kids used to perform a play at Easter time called the Pace Egg Play.

The play of St George, the Knights and the Dragon, is how it is described.

I always thought it should have been performed on St Georges day instead of Easter, but it mentions Easter in the script.

Had a ride out with Rick earlier and I was commenting on the lack of English (St. George's) Flags, and then close to home I spotted one. I can't put one up on the house as I rent it and I'm not to display anything. I don't see why not, no-one took notice of the red light.  Roll Eyes

Quite some nasty stuff about people on the Net who mention St George's Day yet it's all hail St Pat's and St David's Day.

Don't forget today's also Shakespeare's day of birth and death but with 52 years inbetween.

PLUS

Just found out Kate & William have a new baby boy. Pity they called their first one George.  Smiley

I think you said that last year Morrag.

I know a lot of us on here have dodgy memories but I don't think you need to remind us already! I'll be keeping an eye on you next year.  Wink

St George was indeed Turkish, the royal family are German and Greek, just goes to show what a wonderful diverse and tolerant country England is.

Cheesy According to the "expert" on Chris Evans' Radio 2 show, (it's on the tannoy at work so I don't get any choice about listening to him), St George was probably a 3rd century Roman soldier.
