Best wishes to your Mum Chris.
However much we moan about our hospitals, they are there when we need them.

I sympathise with your mum, this was me 3 years ago!  I was transferred to another hospital for an angiogram and they fitted a stent (maybe 2, can't remember) and then I went home.  Had to go back in a few weeks to see if I needed another stent which I did, I've been fine since, I just take a beta-blocker to stop my heart rate going up too much and a small dose of aspirin to keep my blood from getting too thick.

Hopefully it will be just as straighforward for your mum!

thanks guys,
thought i better update, my mum is still in hospital, transferred friday to another to have angiogram and then stent etc.
things have'nt gone as planned, angiogram this morning found to much damage for stents, so triple bypass needed, so waiting on being transferred back to local hospital then onto papworth hospital when a space is availeble.
yes hell of a shock this morning to get the call.
also its genetic.

Can't say much to help, but really hope it goes well -& don't worry about yourself. Get on & enjoy life. I'm sure that'd be your Mum's advice.

Sorry to hear your news. Had assumed all was going well. They do these ops all the time and Papworth Hospital is brilliant. I was treated there. They specialise in hearts and lungs so your Mum will be in good hands.

Obviously you are still going to be worrying but the more calm and confident you are, the more likely your Mum will be at ease. As for the genetics side of it, Papworth will be able to give you a lot of information and help you improve your odds.  If your Mum is in her late sixties and this is the first time she's had a problem, then that bodes well for you.  Smiley

What JayJay said, also once your mum is sorted you can get yourself checked out before anything goes wrong, and that will probably mean that you can ensure that it DOESN'T go wrong.

Good to hear. My op has been cancelled twice more since I posted under the post 'Mojo' but at least I'm not stuck in hospital waiting for a vital operation like your Mum was. I hope your Mum is soon home to enjoy you and your family's pampering.  Smiley
