I spent all day today trudging the streets of downtown Basingstoke, delivering the Mail in freezing rain. Knocking on countless doors, then filling in cards cos nobody's home. Got to the very last house & there was a note on the door- Postman, please knock. That's great I thought -a nice little Christmas tip to finish my day with a smile. Ahh, Postie. I'm glad I caught you. -Can you open this jar of mincemeat for me?

I agree. Knock tomorrow, regardless of whether you have post for them or not, and with a big smile say you have come for your mince pie.

Do all posties have a need for mince pie's? since losing the lovely girl postess, we have a grumpy bloke, still in his shorts and lime green trainers.

See there are some nice mail receivers about. However it would be nice if the Royal Mail could distinguish between normal mail and Christmas cards. A first class recorded delivery has yet to arrive after 3 days and a non christmas related first class letter is also taking its time. I was regretting not sending it recorded delivery but it seems that doesn't make much difference to the speed. Could you pass this on to your bosses please Andy.

Our postie,, is a total waste of space Today he left a whole load of p739. Cards at one address three doors down saying to go to sorting office to collect parcels,, when everybody at all the addresses were at home IE. He never even tried to deliver any of the items .. I actually doubt whether he even had them in the van NOT ,,,HAPPY,,

JJ... I don't know what the the Mail is like this year, but in the the past there are Millions and I mean Millions of letters cards and other items,it is impossible to split them up into the different streams as Andy will confirm. As for recorded delivery it is only to prove that somebody has received the said item,it actually travels with the ordinary mail so is subject to the same service. Spanners... If I had a pound for every Moron that said I was in! And he didn't knock I would be a very rich man.To be caught leaving your packets behind (and they do go round and check) probably means losing your job not good at Christmas, not good anytime. Believe it or not its more hassle not to deliver them.

my postie's are great. We have a code often find parcels left in the kit cars or even the greenhouse, under the camper, which is a fair walk from the post box. I expect mine will get the mince pie and sausage roll treatment, with a dollop of clotted cream for good measure The dustmen also get a 4 pack of Stella, they never whinge about my recycling, engine parts included.

Our postess got a pressie today as did the dustmen. Our postie is brilliant and always leaves parcels when she can. Our bin crew, equally excellent. They will always take whatever I put out. It pays to be nice!

Went to sorting office,, Got my parcel
When I asked why they just left the cards at the one address and didn't even knock on our doors (there was 4parcels to deliver to three adjacent properties)
The answer I got was ,,very sorry but no parcels were delivered to you particular area as we had so much mail and only a small van so the parcels never left the depot
Single crewed small van , it seams they don't even have van buddie,s around here
