Don't forget to take the spark plugs out. Turn the engine over a few times then refit them to start

Before you have a go at starting. Check the cambelt first just as a precaution and if it does run okay check that it's charging as the whole rear end needs stripping out to get to the alternator.

The Beast lives, fitted new battery pressed starter button the Beast turns, took out a plug to check spark and there is a spark, bought new petrol poured it into tank. Pressed start button turned it over a couple of times then stopped, pressed starter again turned over a couple more times it coughed, pressed starter again burst into life, a couple of blipps of the throttle and the Beast ticks over nicely. Not bad for a bike that hasn't been started for 3 to 4 years
