I used to turn castings that size and bigger. They were part of slurry pumps used in diamond mines in South Africa.

The casting contained a high percentage of chromium and were an absolute bugger to turn to size.

We used diamond cutters about the size of an old penny.

I thought I was wrong once, it turned out I was incorrect!
