Sparkplug & gears statue

Saw this in Oxford this afternoon. In the middle of a posh housing development backing onto the canal. Was there a parts factory there? Or maybe a tribute to the Morris factory at Cowley, although that's miles away.
Certainly different.

They definitely look too much like the real thing to be a sculptor's own design. Perhaps she or he had been working on a car before crafting them and it was a subliminal thing.
I did quickly look to see if there was a link anywhere on the web but not that I could find in 5 mins. Like you say, it could be linked to Morris. His country house was Nuffield Place but that is in Huntercombe near Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. Was that anywhere near where you were?

No, just wandering along the canal towpath that skirts around the city centre. The full monument also features a pair of curtains & seating, including concrete cushions. Bizarre.

What, the curtains?

Very surreal. You'd think they would be documented somewhere on the web. Practically everything else is!
