Back in 1989 there was an episode of Only Fools and Horses called Yuppy Love where Trigger said the line “I saw one of them old £5 note the other day”.

Jump forward to today, and, should you to wish to try and impress some “yuppy sort”, you could try the same line, as, significantly, the old £5 note ceases to be legal tender after May 5th 2017. (which just happens to be 5-5)  Roll Eyes

How long have the new notes been in circulation? Doesn't seem very long between the new ones appearing & the old ones being phased out.

They were introduced in Sept 2016 according to the Bank of England link  Wink

old pound coin being phased out quickly as well.
