The Chelsea Cruise has been going since the 70s & used to be a huge event. It's on the last Saturday of the month & used to cover most of Battersea & the Chelsea embankment. Custom cars & American classics cruising around the streets all evening. To quote the great John Milner -"Used to take a whole tank o' gas, just to do one circuit". Sadly those days are long gone & the cruise now centres around a static meet in Battersea Park, followed by cruising up & down the Chelsea Bridge. Sometimes it's busy, sometimes it's not.
Tonight's the Halloween fancy dress meet, so if you fancy seeing assorted zombies, driving 50s classic Yanks, head down to the Chelsea Bridge entrance to Battersea Park around dusk this evening.

You (or perhaps the Manky Mobile) is famous!  Grin

Remember when Custom Car first wrote about the "Chelsea Cruise" becoming the "Battersea Park"...... (good play on words), that must have been many moons ago

Smiley Yeah, once the local authorities started rounding the cruisers up & directing them into the park -& charging them to go in -it lost all it's atmosphere. I started going to the Cruise with a mate when I was 14 or 15. Used to catch the train from Berkshire up to London & spend the night wandering around the streets of Chelsea. When my mate couldn't make it, I'd go on my own. Wouldn't dream of doing it now. Bizarrely, I mentioned it to my Mum fairly recently & she had no idea that's where I used to go.

We stopped in on the way back from the bike show, about 7ish. Only a handful of cars there, but a few more rumbled down as we left
