Some plates on the end of each outrigger. These stop the body moving side to side on the outriggers and may or may not have matching plates on the outside. D72 British Bellytank A couple more tabs each side of the rear axle. D72 British Bellytank And one at the rear, work in progress at the moment while we finish the push bar at the rear. Accelerator pedal was going to be floor mounted but with the steering rack moved down it now has to be fitted here. D72 British Bellytank Made a couple of tabs with possible adjustment holes and a pedal arm going down. D72 British Bellytank Little dog leg in arm so in middle of available space and a small side bracket to hold the cable end. D72 British Bellytank

Better view of accelerator pedal. Toe hook is to allow you to pull the pedal back up in case it sticks, will also have two return springs at the other end on the carb and maybe a spring on the pedal shaft itself. Safety first. D72 British Bellytank

Gear linkage, with the gearbox now being behind the driver instead of along side your feet the cable would not reach and there was no room for the shifter itself. So being proud owners of push rod brake bicycles we copied that idea. Had a set of 10mm linear bearings which were meant to be used on the trike for that gear linkage. fitted one by the rear outrigger and one by the front outrigger with a length of 10mm bar between. Rear. D72 British Bellytank Front. D72 British Bellytank

Connected up to a simple lever. D72 British Bellytank Which then moved from here... D72 British Bellytank to here. D72 British Bellytank Had too much travel at the top which we could sort by moving the pivot point but it just seemed wrong to use and difficult to know what gear you were in. Cut it off and start again.

Gear linkage number 2 made and slowly evolving into number 3, will post pics when whole set up is working. Decided to make a start on the firewall. Made a template out of hardboard first before marking up some ali sheet. The firewall is made in three parts and held on a 1x1" flange on the bottom half and a 2x1" flange on the top half as this is also part of the engine cover. D72 British Bellytank D72 British Bellytank Templates made to overlap each other. D72 British Bellytank Test fitting and hardly any trimming needed as it should be a circle. D72 British Bellytank

Marked out the top section now known as the 'mushroom' and the two side sections on to the ali sheet and cut using a slit disc and steady hand. D72 British Bellytank 2 side sections made with the overlap needed. Also started planning swage lines but am limited by the reach of the swager. D72 British Bellytank

Came out like this. Kept the swage lines simple as did not want to risk messing it up with too many bends. D72 British Bellytank One remark was 'Optimus Primes cod piece' D72 British Bellytank

Fitted the lower flanges, made out of 2mm ali same as firewall. Barely fits in the shrinker at 2 mm but after a bit of work it works, will clean up the marks left by the shrinker later on. D72 British Bellytank Cut the holes in side panels for chassis tubes and test fitted. D72 British Bellytank D72 British Bellytank

And the top flanges made the same way as the lower ones just wider so they can be part of the engine cover. D72 British Bellytank

Reminds me of Captain America's shield, strapped to his back Looks very nearly complete once you start putting panels in. Nice work Sir.

Can't fit the top flanges till we know where the engine cover is and cant do that till we know where the exhausts are going to exit so body back on and cut out the holes for the exhausts. Best pic at the moment, have been cut down to about 9" and a stay bar welded between them. D72 British Bellytank D72 British Bellytank
