D72 British Bellytank Once the hairpins were made a lot happened really quickly. The shocks got moved to new brackets behind the centre line of the axle, which then connect to mounts on top off the hairpin brackets and the steering rack was moved to the bottom of the front end which was better as you can rest your feet over it.

D72 British Bellytank Brakes. Made a bracket for master cylinder?? which is mounted directly above the steering column as it is dead space and we are running out of that quickly.

D72 British Bellytank Little brace underneath after tweeking several times, body on/body off. There is about an inch clearance from the top off that cylinder. The whole mount will be reshaped when we do the final welding/ tidy up.

Nice to see another progress report on this. A few years ago a mate & I trailered a Sherpa van all the way back from Swansea so I could cut it up & use the running gear in a T bucket. The T never happened & I ended up scrapping the van cos I didn't have the room to keep loads of parts. The rear axle's under my Pop though. Shame cos the wheels, brakes etc would've been handy. Nice work chaps. I mentioned you to my brother, Steve Field of Black Pig Racing/FieldCraft Fabrication recently -he knows you well & said to say Hi.

D72 British Bellytank Steve Field, know him well , wish I had half his talent. Steering column mount, what a nightmare this single tube was. It fits perfectly under the nose of the body and acts as the mount for the dashboard but getting here meant lifting the body on/off several times, cutting, grinding plus rewelding/tacking in place, repeat, wrong, bugger. Then found the angle of the column will require a second UJ to line up with the steering rack. No big issue as we had room below the brake cylinder

D72 British Bellytank Also opted for hand operated brakes as the new steering rack position had messed up the plan for the pedal. Problem with building this is as no matter how well you plan something it always needs tweeking. This is also why everything is sort off 70% finished because you never know when you might just have to cut it off and start again.

D72 British Bellytank Steering wheel. Wanted a butterfly wheel but wow, how much!. So we decided to make one (Gareth did it) instead. Used a standard quick release boss and came up with this. Needs finishing but I think it works. Poor Gareth was so pi$$ed when he realised he had put one side of the grips opposite way round. I like it,a bit of smoothing and will be fine, shows the human input into it.

I wish his talent ran in the family. Love that semi circular dashboard tube.
