The last flight of XH588 is immanent, and it looks like there will be a Farewell Tour for the North on Sat 10th Oct, and the South on Sun 11th Oct.

Details seem a little sketchy, but the following sites should help............

They're asking people NOT to go to the airfield where it's based, to watch it take off or land, because the crowds have been blocking the access roads with their cars and making it impossible for emergency vehicles to reach the airport, which may therefore be closed  to all flights for H&S reasons.

Still difficult to find info re times & routes (the Vulcan to the Sky site has 'info' tabs but currently not linking to info.....)

Did find this   http://aviationforall.proboards.com/thread/3630/vulcan-farewell-tour?page=1

and this has the following links which show maps, but not times of the (proposed/confirmed??) routes

Southern    https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=zJoGZd3-Qg5U.k3u8IUZTll6M

Northern    https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=zJoGZd3-Qg5U.k9_QAWQWnmes

For those southern MMM members, Dunsfold, Farnborough, Popham and Old Sarum are all listed.

If anyone finds more info, please list.

Timings for Sunday have appeared, but do not seem to be confirmed (weather etc could always cause issues anyway).

Suggest all these timings are taken with a pinch of salt and various websites as listed at start of this thread are checked for the latest news.

From local sites:

http://www.gethampshire.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/vulcan-bomber-retiring-aircraft-reach-10235681

The above site says it will land at Farnborough   mmmmmm?

http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/vulcan-bomber-retiring-aircraft-reach-10235281

Found this table, again suggest its used for guidance only.

I've seen some people saying Farnborough at 14:10 / 2.10 (which would tie-in with the table and Middle Wallops time of 14:15 / 2.15), so if that's right, looks like the Basingstoke area only a couple of mins after Farnborough........ maybe....... hopefully.......  Wink

Yeah, I was supposed to be at Diner Derek's yard sale in Chiddingfold this morning, but had a call from a workmate who I go to airshows with, to say she's heading to Popham airfield at 1pm. Not enough time to do both, so hopefully I'll see the Vulcan one last time later.

Lousy camera phone snap, but the best view of XH558 this year, coming in low, right over Popham airfield, just West of Basingstoke, Hants. Great to see her fly one last time. A truly awesome sight.
Maybe 1,000 people gathered there to see her, with light aircraft circling, landing & taking off from the grass airstrip right up to maybe 10 minutes before she passed over. Came in from the East, over Basingstoke, dropping low over the airfield, then banked away to the West toward Old Sarum. Amazing how such a big plane can arrive in almost complete silence, swooping in over the trees like some enormous Pterodactyl, then thundering overhead with that awesome, prehistoric howl. Really does send a shiver up your spine.
XH588's been back in the air for less than 10 years, but considering the Trust that own her had no help from the Government at all & had to rob parts from other obsolete Vulcans to get her airworthy again, it's a hell of a feat to have done it.
As their slogan says, Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.  Smiley

Britain's only flying Lancaster bomber's just about to start a round Britain tour, after being grounded by an engine fire in May & now there's talk of Concorde being launched again. Looks like the future's in the past.  Smiley
