making sidelights/marker lights.

Thinking about using a couple of those 2 pin 12v household spotlamp bulbs as spotlights cum sidelights, mounted either side of headlamps.Ones Ive seen are 3 x leds in each one, sealed, so weather proof, and about 2"diam.Theyre quite cheap.Found some 3" diam aly bar to turn up into casings, with a aly rim and glass front.Do you reckon the bulbs would be ok?
UPDATE...just got lamps from pound shop,12 leds in each.Dug out the aly bar ready to turn up.We'll see...

I have a surplus amount of 2" alloy tube, think it was MOD radio mast so probably scaffold tube. Can cut to order if anyone wants some.

Make sure the lamp body fits in, as some lamps are slightly different(I measured them with a vernier in the pound shop!) I used the pots as they had a base(back end of lamp) and a rolled edge at the lens end.

Yeah, would be, but a bit gimmicky.Good thought though. One on the back as a fog lamp perhaps, crown drilled out for a few leds.Ive got the dodgy pistoń that seized, nice scrapes down the sides.May make a light for the van interior from it, drill out the crown for a few white leds.
The two pots Ive used were a lucky find from a charity shop a few weeks ago, knew they'd be handy one day!
