Sd1 vs cortina power steering rack
«

Anyone got any info on the relative dimensions/swappability of these two racks?
I've got involved in a challenger kit car, between the owner and so-called rebuilder, and it needs a power steering rack to replace the original cortina rack.
The problem is, cortina pwr steering racks are non existent, so looking for an alternative which needs to be the same width so as not to blow the geometry.
All help appreciated,
Huw

Mr Kapri may well know of something suitable.
I bought a Vauxhall Corsa power steering column for my Pop but never fitted it, (now sold on). Simple way to add power to the original rack?

Didn't the 2.3 Cortina have a power rack?

I have used a Granada power rack on a kit car with the pump driven off the belt, think it was a Pinto 2.0 engine. Had to modify the track rod ends, length etc. Nothing to challenging.

Other alternative is to use a power steering COLUMN, like Astra ,Saxo and MGF .

As I said ...actually, maybe mine was Astra rather than Corsa? Damn my goldfish memory.

Thanks for replies, don't want to go to electric column, but kapri or Granada rack might work.
The original rack was cortina non powered, but the v6 cortina one is unobtainable.
