Some really sad news-
Andrew, a 20 year old member of the Surrey Street Rodders, was killed in a car crash a few days ago. His father Paul is also a club member, (known as Farncombe Pop on some forums). I knew them both well enough to say Hi at rod events, but not that well. They were both enthusiastic & supportive club guys though. After some discussion, the club have issued the following:

SSR picnic cancelled

Due to the sad loss of one of our club members we feel that out of respect we are unable to put the picnic on.
Andrew always came along and at this time it just wouldn't be right to go ahead with it.
R I P Andrew.

That is understandable.  So sad and he was so young too.

Strictly pre-book only I'm told, which will hopefully give the SSR a chance to weed out the modern cars before they get to the showfield & presumably means no problems with people getting in without paying, as they did this year. I went to the early Wheelsdays at Slyfield Green cattle market in Guildford, but for me Rushmoor Arena's it's natural home, so I'm glad they're going back.
