Can anyone help me out here please. Looking for some idea of the value of a 1990 pan european st1100 with 128,000 on the clock. All the luggage etc. Been off the road for ten years. Cosmetically good, good engine and gearbox..... Allegedly. Having a very very long and very very hard think.
Any thoughts please as i'm a pan european virgin.
Thanks
Regards
K

Where did that 13mm spanner go then?

Without pics it's hard to say,That's the very first model,24 Years old,
I have seen 95-4 models go £700. Standing for ten years wont help it,
The exhaust pipes are very expensive and do rot,
Depending on where it's kept you will need to check the alternator it's common for them to seize,

In addition to Hunter's comments, the inlet rubbers are prone to harden and crack. The Pan is a great bike in my opinion (I've got one so probably biased!) but as Hunter says, 10 years laid up may have not helped it. If you take a punt it must be very very cheap as you could be buying a whole heap of trouble but who knows you could be lucky.
I presume it's not running. As a minimum it will need a carb strip, clean, rebuild as they will be properly varnished up, if not worn out with over 100K on the clock. Then I would change all the normal consumables and fluids un seize the brakes, dismantle and free up the clutch. Then spin it up on the starter motor with the kill switch on to build up the oil pressure before you attempt to start it. You will be into £150 at least in consumables just to see if it runs. Having said all that it is probably worth £300 - £500 as is and a little more in bits!!
Hope that helps.

It'll need new tyres as well if it's been standing for 10 years! - regardless of the state of the tread. My daughter had a blowout on the motorway the other day (in her campervan, rear one luckily) - and the AA man said the tyre was 10 years old which may have been a cause.

I have one to.
Pan st1100
Another important thing is the timing belt,
I think the belt alone is £60+fitting,
Unless you can do it yourself.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies. Think i'll give it a miss. I get the feeling that the bloke thinks its worth a fortune coz i get the impression that he's a bit of a dreamer. Your comments have been really helpful. I let you know if he turns into mr. Sensible.
