the dizzy has the advance retard dish on it and is not connected to vacuum pipe is this required?
i was told multiple carbs dont need it ?/ ummm nah i think it will help trike stalls every time you stop
any other causes carbs need balancing and ive ordered a leccy fuel pump as so little fall on gravity feed ?
any pointers taken and used

There's enough fuel from  gravity feed on my quad carbed trike to pull cleanly without any problems , two feeds from tank though ? Little troublesome on throttle back off  as it hangs on a bit but I haven't had a chance to look at anything properly to narrow it down as every time I go to look at it I seem to end up going for a ride ! LOL

Vac advance is primarily an economy device for cruising speeds and should be fed from a ported point ie no vac advance on tickover but more when running on cruising throttle. I've run plenty of car engines without them attached, especially those with tuned cams as the vac advance doesn't work correctly then anyway.

It's my experience with multiple carbs ( Webers ) on car engines that they need more initial advance as the vac is lower than on a single carb. Modern points also need regapping pretty soon after fitting as the plastic cam lobe melts and then hardens from friction.

I tend to use the plugs to tell me what's happening inside .In fact the Gunson spark plug mixture 'things' are a handy tool as well.

When I took my Reliant to Tom Airey, the engine tuner, the first thing he did was to remove the vacuum pipe, (remembering to block off the feed from the manifold). No idea why, but he knew what he was doing.

So as not to pull in any vac advance and work purely with the mechanical advance in the dizzy. Just like checking static timing should ALWAYS be done with vac disconnected and blocked.

Early ( pre about '73 ) Yansk always use full maifold timing and later go to ported to help with emissions. Brit stuff has always used ported only. Why ? I have no idea !!

trike stalls every time you stop

Could it be the clutch not freeing off completely ?

You should be reported to the R.S.P.C.R sir, for such unmitigated cruelty Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy. although I tend to agree with you Stump, with so many virtually bullet proof 'bike engines available out there at present, the need for the Reliant's small, light, watercooled motor is possibly less of an attraction today..........................ho, hum, at least theres the scrap value, I suppose! Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue.....Morrag

One of the reasons I parted with the Mini 1000 trike was that it was never going to be fast enough!  Have fun with the Kwak!
