Took a drive down to this event today, one of the first fine sunny days we have had in a long time, only to be disappointed in the content of the show in general, dominated by Minis and by the sound of some entering the show ground they had only just made it chugging and misfiring their way through the gate, what I did consider to be worth while show cars are in the photos below, in all I won't be going to the Footman James event again. " Celebrating the Rock and Roll years" eh? Seems the latest bandwagon for everyone to jump on. Sad I see more and more events appearing by those who aren't interested in anything but parting you from your money.

I would agree. They had a band playing but even though some of the songs had a beat to jive to they played many more recent tunes.

If it isn't a rock n roll theme it is "retro". Now some people pay homage to the 40s and 50s everyday and dress and live in homes that hark back to that era but organisers seem to think a few men dressed in teddy boy clothes and women in denim capris and checked tie shirts along with some 50s music is enough to brand their event as retro. Very few pull it off because they are not into that scene themselves.

As Rick said, mini cars seemed to dominate at this event and (my pet hate) cars that you're hard pushed to accept as "classics" such as range rovers, austin allegros (I know it is 40 years old but...) and golfs. Maybe the golfs at a performance meet but not this one. However, when the organisers are charging the show cars to enter then they are more likely to have very loose criteria to judge them by.

My faves were Betty's Diner, the Grey Lady, the Bentley, the Volvo (pity they still don't make them like that - so stylish) and the Healey which I thought looked like it could have just been unveiled as a new model. The lines were lovely and the exhaust looked very James Bond.

As Rick said though, not worth the petrol money or the entrance fee of £9. We did get in a bit cheaper but even that was too much!
