Maths has always been like a foreign language to me. My secondary school maths teacher actually took me to one side one day & said You're obviously just never going to understand this. If you promise to sit quietly at the back of the room & not distract the other boys, I'll leave you alone & not ask you anything.
Basic adding, subtracting etc, that's my limit. Even now words like logarithm & trigonometry make my blood run cold.

Hey Andy you are not the only one to have a teacher say that to him.....guess who else that happened to.....yep ME!!
I couldn't get a grip with maths at school, to be honest i wasn't that interested anyway, just wanted to do wood and metal work so only picked up the maths skills in later life, there are still things that i can't do,not always been a teacher i had loads of 'proper' jobs first.  Grin

The replies all seem a little one-sided to me.

We have a lot in common - I was hauled up in front of the class for not doing my Algebra homework.  The teacher ranted "How do you expect to pass your algebra exam?"

I said "I don't, Miss Smith"

She looked at me, sighed, and said "Go and sit down."

And in fact, the lack of algebra has never held me back!
