The 2014 Shere Hill Climb website is up 'n' running  http://www.sherehillclimb.co.uk/  and has the scheduled date of 7th Sept listed for the 2014 event.
Location wise, Shere is a village near to Guildford in Surrey next to the A25 Guildford to Dorking road. The hill is just off the A246 Guildford to Leatherhead road.

Entrants get the chance to pay money to drive on a piece of road that only the day before they could drive on for 'free' (assuming road tax, insurance etc etc), but at least local charities benefit.

That'd be cool. Last year's was pre-book only & all places were filled months in advance, but some very interesting cars in the spectators' field. Biggest problem was the limited view. It's a normal country road, closed to the public for the day. Last year there was a scaffold viewing platform at the start line, but other than that, we had to walk up the side of a farmer's field & find gaps in the hedges to watch through. Great to see classics being properly thrashed though.  Smiley

Their website says that the hedges have been cut low and viewing available both sides.
I am riding at the Brighton Speed Trials on the Saturday (Impulse outfit) so will try to be there on the Sunday.
