What i couldn't understand is Why wear race leathers,Why not a wet suit,I would have been lighter and warmer.
I can understand the reason for a crash helmet,But not the suit.

I was thinking along the same route.
The leathers do have good padding, in case he impacted the bike in a tumble, but swimming/keeping afloat can't have been easy as don't think he had any bouncy aids.
