:)messing around with reliant trike today, charged battery,, cleaned solenoid , managed to get engine cracking over on starter. cleaned plugs checked for spark all ok..put temp pipe in can too fuel pump, then piped up to carb,, fuel was not pumping through engine fuel pump to carb.. checked carb float needle freed that off. put fuel in direct into float bowl,, got engine to fire up a few times for a couple of seconds..engine did not sound to bad, now loud noises,, little bit of smoke.. not bad as been stood for a few years,,seem to have small leak of fuel from bottom of su carb float chamber,, its the strange flex pipe that goes from float to main carb body, it has the needle slide also all one unit..could be running down pipe from needle end.. any tips how to seal or any one got spare.. seems funny the way its is fitted into float body.. cheers the slug

It is almost certainly leaking from the float bowl connection. Fitted to the pipe should be a tube nut, a small washer and a rubber gland. This gland tends to perish/dissolve with modern fuels. Luckily they only cost 80p each from moss-Europe. part number AUD2194

When you say you asked about the log book - asked who? I thought you got the 'new keeper' bit? You're supposed to send that to DVLA.
You can also apply for a new one if you tell them the old one is lost.

The logbook ought to say just Motor tricycle, but it's more than likely got the Reliant's original chassis number stamped onto the new trike frame -which is completely illegal & makes it a "ringer" -a vehicle pretending to be another. I'll admit I've done this in the past, but wouldn't any more. As owner of the website, I've got a duty to encourage people to build safely & legally, but it's also just not worth it. It is illegal, you will get caught & the vehicle's logbook will be suspended. You might get away with it for a while, but the DVLA are tightening up their procedures & eventually MOT stations will refuse to test something that isn't what it says it is & once that happens they're obliged to inform DVLA, who'll send you a letter telling you the vehicle needs to be inspected. It'll be immediately obvious it's not a standard Reliant & they'll take away your V5C. Then you'll have to put it through the MSVA test to get it back on the road anyway. To be honest, if the paperwork's not right, the trike should be re-registered. That's not nearly as difficult as it might sound though -there are several trikers here who've built vehicles & put them through the MSVA registration process, including Mr Old Newbie. Plenty of advice available here if you need to go that route. Not trying to discourage you in any way mate, just pointing out that if it's iffy, re-registering properly is the sensible way to go.

Some Reliants were registered new with body type- tricycle. That is why they became so popular with folk making trikes. They just transferred the numbers over to the new frame. We have even seen trikes with Ford running gear registered as 'Reliant' where the only Reliant part is the VIN plate.

99% certain that it is nothing more than water vapour from condensation due to the time it has been lying . .

If you download a form V888 from DVLA and send it off to them you will get all publically available info on whatever OWNED vehicle you ask about. This usually includes a copy of the V55/4 original reg sheet. As with many rods ( 2 axle rigid body on V5C ) it would surprise a lot of people.
