Anyone used disabled clause to register trike ?

Not really relevant, but my XS650 Yamaha bike says Taxation Class -disabled on the logbook. I'm told I can change this at my local Post Office when I re-tax it.

no you cant ... can only be done at your DVLA office .... PLG to disabled can do at post office but not vice versa

Kapri - I had a look at the thread about this on the NABD forum and had a reply on the NABD forum from Gary Seddon who I knew when I was a NABD rep .......

I know the adaptions advisor Tracey Browne has been away for a couple of weeks on tour earning a crust but she's back in Madchester now so will be getting stuck into her emails.

Rick is probably the best to ask at the moment, the dispensation for trikes adapted for use by a disabled rider is still in effect so most of the information regarding that is still current. The forms and method will still be the same. I've done it twice myself and will be doing it again once my current project is finished so you could always give your mate my email addy as I wrote the original piece. I'll be contacting all the relevant authorities about my build in the next few weeks just to check.

I might even do a re-write with the updated info.

Gary's reply was to my post suggesting some of it may be outdated now...

Gary has checked and the dispensation for disabled is still the same, so this thread is still relevant re how to go about it (including whether you want to use the 'free tax' option on the trike or not)

Thanks for your help on this BG  I'll be building to MSVA standard anyway and may still do the test .However if there are issues caused by my mods to help me ride I'll go down this route. Once again, thanks.

For info I won't be able to use twist throttle or pull brakes / clutch so will need to adapt to suit. Sorted a lot of my parts just deciding on a suitable donor bike.

Didn't come up on my saved searches Andy, guess it's because it's CX500 and not CX 500 . Now watching and thinking Got a lead on a BMW R100 as well. Marian wants me to wait until my EUS test on Monday, just so it's not another piece of crap to sell if the results bad! LOL
