Not entirely sure which section this should be in! Kev recently emailed me these photos of his top secret new project with instructions to keep it under my hat. I duly tucked it under my titfer, but he tells me it's O.K to publish them now. I'm sure he won't mind me telling you he suffers from a variety of ailments that mean at some point he's gonna need some extra mobility assistance, The man's a walking medical encyclopedia, but walking any great distance is becoming more difficult. Being Kev though & determined not to let it stop him doing what he does so well, (like so many here), he's come up with this -a custom mobility scooter themed around his old Mod Scooter. The " Lamebretta". Brilliant! I'm just posting the photos for him, so I'll let Mr Kapri fill in the details himself. More power to your little wheels mate.

That is cool. I knew you were working on one Kapri but wasn't expecting the Lambretta theme.

I was going to build a bobber themed one initially but the paintwork on this one was too good to waste so went with the LamEbretta theme. Bit of a story attached to it all. Back in '68 I was involved in the Soul scene in Wolverhampton . I was too young to have a scooter as only 13 but lusted after one. Eventually moved down here and bought a '61 LI ( in 72 ! ) and managed to bouncei t off a wall and decided it hurt a bit too much ( I've manned up since then a bit) Anyway all the stuff on the scooter harks back to then, Catacombs on the plate is THE big Soul club way before Wigan Casino was ever thought about . The number itself OKE11 , is a tribute to OKEH , the big soul label ;-) Headset is an LI150 and the seat itself is a Snetterton race seat with a cutdown period backrest. 'Legshields' are made from towel rails with perspex that I cut down to size and repro period decals . I also got hold of some period blue 'bubble' bar covers and brake grips which are used for the modified thumb throttle. It's a bit slow up hills as it's only a shopping style 'boot' scooter and I'm about at the maximum of its weight carrying capacity Think I need to look at 24volt conversion or possible wedging in an 8mph motor .

...and that's with me only using the Fentanyl patches occasionally ! LOL
If I sit about I'm in pain, if I move I'm in pain so I figured out I'd rather do something constructive. There'll be plenty of time for sitting in a chair when I have no option!!
Needs souping up though 4 mph is painful , looking at 48volt conversion ( found out they are 24v as standard )...8mph here I come.
At clinic tomorrow to check progress on my spine issues, now moved up into neck area as well as lumbar .
