Hi. I,me in the process of painting my mudguard and tank on my little gs 500,and thinking about doing some pin striping on the tank. The base coat is on the tank, which is a metallic silver. This may seem like a daft question....once the tank has been masked off,and the stripes painted on...how long do I leave the masking tape on ? Do I have to wait until the paint is fully dry, or can I peel it off after a couple of hours once the paint is starting to go a bit tacky ? Thanks.

If you peel it off after about ten minutes, you shouldn't end up with a hard edge to it.
If you are using enamel paint for the pinstripe, remember it needs to go on OVER the clearcoat, as it'll pickle otherwise

Yeah, ten minutes then remove tape then. It just gives you less of an edge to try and bury under the clearcoat.

Ive put my first stripe on...and it looks pretty good for a non painter/sprayer. When its all dried off,do i have to give it a very light buffing with fine sandpaper before clear coating,,,making sure not to rub the stripes off ?

There is a slight edge on the stripping so I may have to rub that down a tad.
