Ok, well I'm back to 1754 and have a full picture of my family,  except my mums dad, he's proving a bit of a bugger to track!
I now know that my troublesome back is thanks to my great great grand dad who was a miner!
I'll continue digging up my past (pun intended) but that now means scouring the country for parish records.

Hi tbone me and deb have been doing ours for years now online down and the records office. there is a lot of info on line now,
we have got, the British isles vital records index, national burial index for England and wales, the phillimore atlas & index of parish registers 3rd ed or you could look these up

This is the first time I have seen this post, glad you are making good progress T Bone. Many years ago, long before the internet, my fathers elder sister, traced the Sheridan name back to Ireland (cant remember dates) but was disgusted to find out that we were horse thieves
She refused to go any further.
