Not exactly local then.
Luckily for me it's only 5 miles. Only person I know that lives closer is Mr MM

This is a 900 car local show, running from 11am to 5pm. All we really do is bung up a small marquee, park the vehicles in an apparently haphazard, yet actually very arty way, then sit about eating donuts all day.
I know money's tight & petrol ain't exactly cheap at the moment, so I don't want to encourage you guys to trek from the far corners of the country for just a few hours in beautiful Basingstoke -but you know we'd love to see you.
Assuming it's the same as previous years, all show vehicles have to be onsite by 10 -10.30, ready for the public to come in at 11. In practice though, the show's free & there's half a dozen entrances to the park where it's held, so punters are wandering about all the time. For the last couple of years, public parking has been in a nearby field, with a £2 parking fee, which goes to charity. Show vehicles enter free. No charge for people whether showing or viewing, so bring the family, bring the dog, bring a picnic. It'd be nice to have everyone there by, say, 9.30 ish, so we can sort the parking out. We tend to lose a few guys during the day who have to leave early for one reason or another, which leaves big gaps in our display. So if possible, I'd like everyone to actually stay till 5 this time please.
Some clubs seem to line their vehicles up then retire to their tents & keep themselves to themselves. We try to make ourselves accessible to the public & encourage them to ask questions & have a good look at everything. Unfinished vehicles seem to attract as much attention as the shiney ones -I think people are curious to see how a trike, chop or whatever is put together. We're the scruffy bunch in the corner with all the cool stuff!

No, you can get there earlier if you want to Grin

We're the scruffy bunch in the corner with all the cool stuff!
Grin Definitely the most interesting of the displays if you're into things different.
Being as the show has free entry to the public, this is a very popular show, especially for those with family's.
For those who have never been before it's run by the Thornycroft Society and features displays, from small stationary engines, up to the the mighty ANTAR ( a personal favorite, because I went to school next to the factory).
So even if you can't show anything, try to come along if you can.

There are many here who'd dispute whether we're part of Europe Ben, but you'd be very welcome on our side of the planet any time.
