The threads are obviously fairly sound, and as such I would buy a "cheap and cheerful" die nut,you won't need expensive, top qual. gear for a one off like this, so Chinese or similar will suffice to run down them. A die nut is only used to clean up threads, not form them from scratch, so in this case you should be fine. Use cutting compound whilst doing so, so as not to tear the threads, ok, Morrag

Back in the day I've used a nut , take a hacksaw and thread the blade through the nut and saw down through the thread in three places instant die to clean threads .. Not saying its what you should do .. Jus sharing because its caring..
