Woo hoo! We like big ol' trucks! So where's the Urals then?
My sister's emigrating to Canada in a few weeks. A liitle town called High River, an hour's drive from the Rockie Mountains -so free holidays for me! It drops to minus 35 in the Winter & most of the local roads get shut. I wanna move out there & be a lumberjack  Cheesy

Find myself a nice Canadian lady type person, build a cabin in the mountains & live happily ever after. If they let me in I might not come back!

Quote from the Headmaster, High River School for Lumberjack Kids "Now remember children, dont go playing in the forest during the holidays, There's a mad Englishman there who will lead you on the road to ruin.  He will teach all the sins of trike building and the enjoyment of the open road"

The mad old Monkey of the woods.
I think it's the law to have to drive a big ol' pickup truck & wear a red checked lumberjack hat & spit tobacee. They teach that in the schools too.

I'd rather chew the big red hat.
Been listening to a Canadian folk/rock group recently -the Be Good Tanyas. An all girl group, but none of them are called Tanya, though they may well be good.  Tongue Sort of aclimatising myself to the Canadian life  Grin Seems to involve lots of sitting about on porches waiting for your man to come home & moaning about how miserable you are.

You have to watch out for the moose's up there, and the animal ones.

If you look on e bay, - motors   then Other vehicles, there are often Russian trucks for sale. £7000 for one with a fully kitted office cum sleeper on the back.
I can imagine turning up at a posh camp site with a huge 6x6 wagon with six foot high tyres on.
Only problem is that they only do six miles to the gallon on that v8 petrol engine.

I always fancied having a Unimog! Grin Thats the big mercedes 4wd trucks. The tree surgeons on the farm we used to have a workshop on had one, it used to rumble past the doors and all you could see were the wheels!

I had a call on my mobile while I was in the garage this evening -from California! My brother, Steve, ("Brock")'s out there on holiday at the moment. He's been at the drag races in Bakersfield -oldest drag track in the World I think. He was just about to jump in the car & drive down through San Diego to Los Angeles to see a man about a race built Chevy engine, (let's see him get that back as hand luggage!), then back to Hollywood for a few days before finishing up in Las Vegas.
Jealous? Me? of course! He's bought me a little "Moon" water temperature guage for my Reliant though. Beats a postcard anyday.  Grin

Unimogs are brilliant, had to drag a landrover out of a bog in Northumberland with one of them, no trouble, those things'll go anywhere.
