I hadn't realised just how petite she was! About the same size as a Moggy Minor pick-up?

It's not a Capri 2.8i axle with a 3.88 ratio , they were 3.02 from memory ,part number on tag is actually P75 AB 4004  CB . 1975 signified first year of use in vehicle so it's a Mk 2 Capri from a low power model , 1600 ohc I reckon as 2 litres use a 3.7 ratio .Spider gears are always the weak link in Ford axles.

They won't last with anything approaching a hard launch with that amount of torque. Sidestep a clutch on a Pinto with English back axle and kiss your spider gears goodbye , so won't survive long ,if at all Sad

Yep. been there done that.
How about  a Salisbury axle 3.54:1 from 110 Land Rover.

What sort of overall gearing do you want in top and how tall are your tyres?
