 Just thought I’d do a bit more at lunch time. Had already got in early and put a last coat of engine paint on. On Saturday the paint was going off almost as soon as it was leaving the bristles on the brush!! Fitted a few little bits and pieces, engine mounts, block drain tap, oil pipe to the filter, fuel pump and engine breather pipe. Fitted the distributor and timed it up using the points that were in it.  "Met"amorphosis Then took the points and condensor out and fitted a Pertronix kit instead.  "Met"amorphosis I needed to finish off making and fitting the plug leads, so fitted the dynamo and distributor cap to get the leads the right length.  "Met"amorphosis Whilst I was at it, I thought I’d try the exhaust manifold to see what it looked like against the new paint.  "Met"amorphosis The head is only fitted with a couple of studs, the motor will be installed with the gearbox but without the head when the time comes. So now the engine is wrapped up and sealed until we need to install it. The rear end bodywork comes back from the media blasters on Thursday, so I can get on with the metalwork then.

You may remember this scabby old bit of rear end body work  "Met"amorphosis Well it came back from the blasters today, and this is what it looks like now.  "Met"amorphosis  "Met"amorphosis I’ll put a coat of epoxy primer over it tomorrow. |

Also looks pretty straight. Is there much remedial work needed?
Are you going to use it complete or for panels for the original rear?

Few dents to straighten out, other than that it's in pretty good shape for a bit of 53 year old car. Only problem is the metal is so thick the hammer just bounces off!!  |

OK, so just a small update. Managed to get a coat of epoxy primer on the rear end bodywork before the rains came.  "Met"amorphosis Stripped the rear end down for the parts to go to various places. The casing, brake back plates, U bolts, spring front mounts to the powder coaters. The 3rd member to the axle specialists, Hardy Engineering http://www.hardyengineering.co.ukAnd the springs to Brost Forge for re arching.  "Met"amorphosis Thought I’d have another look at the body work. The bottom of the passenger “B” post is a real mess.  "Met"amorphosis Think we’ll start by putting some more bracing in and get the sills sorted before putting the rear end bodywork on finally. |

Apparently, yesterday in Ascot it was thunder and lightning and heavy rain for a while. It has been forecast, but obviously we've got away with it. Wasn't taking any chances.

Managed a bit more, yesterday. Added some more bracing.  "Met"amorphosis Then started to remove the passengers side sill, Quite a mess in there.  "Met"amorphosis Stripped the whole length of the sill out and did a trail fit of the new inner sill. Looks to be a good fit, just got to clean out inside the chassis an treat it before the whole sill can be fitted.  "Met"amorphosis |
