Well the trike is now done, this is a bit of a tale of two b#lls ups.
The first one was mine......
I put fresh diff oil in and was a bit short never mind I thought there's a part bottle up on the shelf. It was labelled correctly so off I went and put it in the diff. As it started to trickle out of the filler hole it looked a bit thin and smelled really bad. On closer inspection it was rotten petrol. Now the question is this... How on earth did that happen. Well the only explanation is this. The ex nearly son in law must have drained a bike tank an put it in the bottle, then put it back on the shelf. Why the Christ he couldn't just dispose of it in the first place I don't know. So off with the back end (mudguards, propshaft etc) remove the prop connection and drain all my lovely (contaminated) diff oil. Then off to the shop for new oil. Now maybe I should have checked he contents first but would anyone,honestly, expect some dork to put their rotten petrol in an oil bottle then put it on a shelf.
Now for my second tale of woe... Either the post office or dvl a have lost my documents, letter and photos of the trike that I sent off 4 weeks ago. This came to light on Tuesday when I made my second call to dvla
to check on progress. So now a nice lady up there in Swansea is trying to sort it. If she can't then i'll have to fill out a v62 to get a new log book for the virago, then send it off with a letter and more pics which, I've been told, could take upto 6 weeks for each process. So it could be another 3 months before I can take the trike out on the road...buggery.
Here endeth my tales of woe, could be worse, it could be raining, (looks out of window) bugger it's raining now
