hi all, decided to split the B stamp axle i purchased for the xv1100 to give it the once over, only to discover that the crown wheel has 42teeth and the pinion has 13teeth unless im missing or over looking somthing that dont make it a B axle ratio......no mater how mant times i divide the two sets of teeth its a very exspensive A stamp  Angry

well i know he has not had these axle in that long, and my thought are that this axle has not been apart for some time.... the first time i went to split it when i first brought it i gave up because one of the studs was seize in the diff housing rather than risk cracking the housing i left it, then today decided to put some heat on it and finale split it... i do have to say one thing the iners all be A ratio are the best iv seen with no wear or play......i have to give the break the benifit of the doubt untill i see what hes going to do about it  Smiley

you could do that way bandit but because i was striping it anyway and had not got it set up on the trike it was quicker and more accurate t to divide the crown wheel teeth by the pinion teeth 42 divided by 13 gives 3.23 = A stamp ratio

When you say stamped, is it actually stamped on the axles as I have never noticed any stamps on either of mine?

I've mixed & matched engines, gearboxes & axles from loads of different Reliants for trikes & never looked to see whether they were A or B ratio axles.
It's possible they were all As, or all Bs, but to be honest, they all performed more or less the same.
