OK it's only May but I think I have found my Hotrod of the year 2012. Couldn't make the Basingstoke show due to family commitments but managed to visit a small local show down on the Romney Marshes... amongst all the usual suspect's like Model B's, 34 Ford's and Model A pickup's sat this oh so cool Ford Model Y. No roof chop and the original paint made the old girl stand out

For me I don't think you could improve on its looks.. Only thing I would change (well I might actually add an exhaust system ) is the name on the logbook to mine.... I think this would look the business parked up next to the Pop...

Very nice Shaun. About time we stopped trying to be Americans & took pride in our own heritage again I think. Did you see "Small Fry" is out & about again. One of the iconic cars from my teenage years.

The star on the door panel is a reflection from the truck parked next to it. I remember seeing this at the Alexandra Palace custom car show when I was still at school. Still looks like it was built yesterday.

It's funny, I was talking to Matt Matheou no so long ago. Got in touch through his son. I used to work for him back in the seventies at his shop in the Kings road ................... Hotrod of the year 2012 On its way to Columbus, Ohio 1977.

Wow!
That'll be Matt on the left and my Kawasaki tripple 400 on the right, oh and John Baldachino's mark 3 cortina and a trailer that looks like it came via Bob Messant (Stripteaser). We borrowed it to take "Small Fry" to Heathrow, 'cos Matt only had a 2CV at the time. His philosophy was "it doesn't matter what daily you have when you have this (Small Fry) and his other car (full height steel '32 3window [yes "Black Cherry" before it was BC] 327, GM350 and 8.75 olds rear end)"

I was chatting about this with a guy at work today. He remembers the shop in the Kings Road -never bought anything but used to come in for a mooch around apparently! He also remembered that Matt owned the Black Cherry coupe. I saw it at one of the London indoor shows, possibly Olympia, but was too young to know anything about who owned what.
