my mates used to recon it looked like a mobile tea stall!!!

I think it's more befitting an Ice Cream van, which is where we're pretty sure the top came from and the bottom some sort of water based fairground ride!!  Cheesy

Ha, you wish   Grin

We wanted to put a floor in it that was of the period, so when some mini parquet flooring became available (for nothing), that’s was what decided on. The flooring came as separate pieces.

We started with a thin wood base.

http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy95/phunkie_hiboy/portafold/picture440_640_x_480.jpg

Then using sikaflex, each tile was individually placed on the board.

It was then sanded down flat using a belt sander.

It was then coated in 3 coats of 2 pack lacquer.

http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy95/phunkie_hiboy/portafold/picture507_640_x_480.jpg

And finally fitted into the floor area of the Portafold.

Looks like the debut of "Our House" is going to be delayed. Victory Wheelers event, this weekend, has been cancelled!!

Don't know what it is, but I don't really like Billing (it's the venue I think). Only ever gone on a saturday for one day and in the daily.

Know what you mean Chris. Some shows just press the right buttons & others don't, for no particular reason.
I used to love the Victory Wheelers' Hayling Island show when it was set among the sand dunes & beach huts at the far end of the sea front. I really enjoyed it's old fashioned, time warp charm -some great photo opportunites too. I know it was for financial reasons, but now it's moved to the middle of a funfair, I've got absolutely no interest in going.
I only ever do shows as one day trips these days & usually have to work on Saturdays, so always do Billing on the Sunday "show n shine" day.

Well here we are at the final furlong.
We decided to put some period alloy wheels on and, as luck would have it, a friend of ours had some wolfrace slots that he was willing to donate to the project. Wolfrace wheels, owned by Barry Treacy, started making and selling these wheels in 1971, so well in period.

Phunkie Project Portafold (caravan!!)

They did need a bit of a cuddle ……………..

http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy95/phunkie_hiboy/portafold/picture280_640_x_480.jpg
Phunkie Project Portafold (caravan!!)

These were wrapped in some new rubber and fitted.
Now it was time to look at the interior. We needed to sort the number and layout of cushions needed.

http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy95/phunkie_hiboy/portafold/picture375_640_x_480.jpg
Phunkie Project Portafold (caravan!!)

http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy95/phunkie_hiboy/portafold/picture374_640_x_480.jpg
Phunkie Project Portafold (caravan!!)

We had for some time been thinking of denim to cover the cushions. Eventually we found a roll of stone wash denim, from a haberdashers in Hounslow.

http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy95/phunkie_hiboy/portafold/picture436_640_x_480.jpg
Phunkie Project Portafold (caravan!!)

Had four more cushions made.

http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy95/phunkie_hiboy/portafold/picture437_640_x_480.jpg
Phunkie Project Portafold (caravan!!)

This is a picture of all the covers finally sewn up, ready to fit to the cushions.

http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy95/phunkie_hiboy/portafold/picture439_640_x_480.jpg
Phunkie Project Portafold (caravan!!)

At this point we realised that we finally had a name for the caravan …………… Levi.   So Levi Portafold it is.
Whilst things were being sewn up, some scatter cushions were constructed.

http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy95/phunkie_hiboy/portafold/picture497_640_x_480.jpg
Phunkie Project Portafold (caravan!!)

http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy95/phunkie_hiboy/portafold/picture501_640_x_480.jpg
Phunkie Project Portafold (caravan!!)

Gingham was the preferred material for the curtains, and Sue made these up at the same time as the rest.

http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy95/phunkie_hiboy/portafold/picture579_640_x_480.jpg
Phunkie Project Portafold (caravan!!)

Having decided the name we had this panel embroidered

http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy95/phunkie_hiboy/portafold/picture586_640_x_480.jpg
Phunkie Project Portafold (caravan!!)

And this prototype decal for the window

http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy95/phunkie_hiboy/portafold/picture594_640_x_480.jpg
Phunkie Project Portafold (caravan!!)

A square of gingham was cut out and inserted onto the “table” which was then covered with a tempered glass top.
So now we have an interior that looks like this

And with the bed laid out

http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy95/phunkie_hiboy/portafold/picture614_640_x_480.jpg
Phunkie Project Portafold (caravan!!)

This weekend (first time out) we had a pinstriper, “Tootal” Paul Dorrington  ( http://www.tootall.info/ ) do what he does best.

Now, with the addition of a few period themed pictures we’re pretty much finished. A few more pictures of the outside.

Well that’s about it. Thanks to all those that have been looking in since last year and those that have helped with information.
We’ll just go and have fun with it now.

Thank you kind sir.
So now that's kind of finished, it'll be onto the next project. i need to finish the period speed boat that I've been "doing" for, must be best part of 15 years now. It's a 1970s 13 foot Picton with a 1650 Ford Xflow and a P&P jet. I'll start a thread on it at some point.  Grin
