There was a thread on here (or a hi jack of another thread )about this recently..cant find the dang thing!

......
Anyways, today I decided to have a go at my Terror tubby style linkage,to make the g/lever bearing 'cup' more sturdily fixed other than the orig. circlip. We spoke on the other thread about bolting the cup to the neck of the g/box plate. I tried this today, and found that the neck thickness is only about 3mm,then it is hollow between the inner surface of the neck and the outer surface of the 'cup' permanently fitted in the g.box top plate,so DONT TRY TO DRILL AND TAP THIS!
What Ive done is cut a piece of tube that fits exactly over the bottom edge of the cup ie the largest O.D. of the cup. Actually couldnt find a piece of tube big enuf,so cut a 6mm piece of 2" pipe ,then opened it up and added a piece to give me the right diam, with a bit of fettling it fitted fine.I then tack welded the ring to the cup,so that the base edge of the cup is flush with the bottom of the ring. . Made 2 straps from 20 x 3 steel and welded one end to the ring ,and the other end drilled a hole to locate one of the top plate perimeter bolts. Fitted a strap on each side ,diagonally opposed. Bolted it all down ,and after some re building of the g/lever itself to get more clearance to the frame when in reverse,it all seems to work fine. Its taken me about 6 hours to do this today,so fiddly,as I had to keep building and stripping the whole linkage at each stage to get everything lined up one part at a time. Pics tomorrow,as Ive taken it all apart to paint it .
