Well after about 7 years thinking about a repaint, I had the roof painted in October, which made the rest of the car look poor.
Another month of soul searching and i decided it couldnt wait any longer so i spent early december removing the chrome and stainless trim, and after Boxing day i started to remove the paint.
Paint shop is booked for February, so I have to keep the pace up  Cry

Looks nice & solid for a 60 year old car Dan. That's a huge area to de-paint.

Tell me about it!  Thats why I'm having a couple of days off.  Hands still feel like they are vibtrating form using the sander so long.
So far the only rust hole found is the sixe of a penny coin, and i think i know where another one may be.
The Offside has very old accident damage and can be seen from inside the car, so I know i will find loads of filler and have to take it easy round there.
Idea is to leave old repairs alone where they appear to be sound and solid. No point in digging out old filler just to replace it.
There is no chance of finding a replacement wing, i guess it would have been done stateside if one was available way back when.

I will keep you updated.

Tut tut, no mask!

Its a big mistake when i dont wear it.  It really is surprising what it stops, but for some reason tends to get condensation on the inside from breathing.  I dont remember this with other similar ones I have used.  I guess i should really get another one.

rear window trim removed today.  loads of hidden clips, but i found tehm in the end!
Lots of old rust and debris hidden away too, but only surface rust again so it all disappeared with a good polish.

The trim is polished Stainless so is also holding up well. The clips look to be mild steel, but have not rusted too much, and the threads are all good too.  I did lose a couple of nuts into the dark deep mists of the bodywork as i couldnt hold onto them but thats easy to replace  Smiley
