Chevy Rick and I went to Heathrow for the Jukebox Show. Not run by the same people that ran the Kempton show. Nor the Brighton show (I think). £8:50 to get in so with that and fuel, not a cheap day out. The venue was the Thistle Hotel, but the layout was cramped on the whole with only one big room dedicated to just stalls. Not that many punters but just as well because no-one would have been able to move otherwise.
One room was for the bands but everything was delayed with the excuse that the first person up was not there but when he eventually came on, he was a chap who had been there for ages! The DJ was crap and was so bad, Rick heckled him.
I saw one of the organisers later and I said how disappointing it was especially for the money. He said it was the first and the next one should be better. I said people would not bother next time.
They had also encouraged period cars to turn up, giving those who registered two free tickets. Not much good for us because the fuel bill at about 20-25 mpg would have cost us more anyway. Some tasty vehicles turned up but the organisers hadn't really allowed for a dedicated parking area for them and some of them had to squeeze in next to the normal cars and for some of those giants, I do mean squeeze!
Hey Ho. Day wasn't completely screwed though, we called in to see Colboy and Colboys Chick (fellow Mankies) on the way home.
I am now watching the Rugby final I taped. Come on All Blacks.
