Hey All Well, what a nightmare the last few weeks has been! :'(A huge reshuffle at work took me within a whisker of losing my job. As it has turned out,SWMBO who works there too,has been made redundant (after 9 years exemplary service) ..long story, wont bore you! My position is relatively safe (tho' I dont believe anything the coniving B*****ds say anymore) .Anyway the upshot of all this is that I have decided to give up building and playing with vehicles,(after 45 years)and have a MASSIVE lifestyle change. Im selling all my vehicles and buying a 'normal' car!!This will allow me to concentrate on finishing the trike! In fact the trike has been my saviour during the last few weeks,as Ive battled several odd stress related instances,I just went out into the workshop ,and my mind drifted off as I worked on it!Please accept my huge sincere apologies to anyone who may have been vaguely interested in buying it. Update pics as soon as I can figure my camera probs out. Regards Rod

That's ...kinda good news then Rod ...? I keep thinking Taz & I have taken on way too many projects -it gets genuinely depressing when you start thinking about just how many year's work & how much money they're all going to take to finish. Not the best reason for prioritising your vehicle collection, but sometimes we need a push to realise we don't need quite so many & to just concentrate on one. I know what you mean about losing yourself in work in the shed. I find tinkering very theraputic. Best of luck with the job situation mate & let's see some progress on that trike now!

Thanks for the words guys.Ive been working on the trike since 5.30am this morning!A guy arrived this morning to take all my engines, gearboxes and kit car spares, and Im looking to completely clear my large shed...amazing what you find tucked away in corners, and stuff Ive been looking for for ages,so it pays to have a clearance every now and then!Kit car sold ,and now vw van to sell ,and thats it! Im free from the burden of the bloody things! A large boot sale should do the trick later in the year, and what doesnt sell Im dumping in the bins on the boot sale site afterward!Nothing is coming back home!

It's amazing how a couple of hours can pass with out noticing and how worries seem to fade away for at least a while when you're working on a trike. I find the same thing myself. I'm part time and on temporary contracts, renewable each year. The end of year is a pretty worrying time for me but some trike/bike DIY etc takes my mind off things. I know exactly what you mean about things pecking away in your head, I sometimes wake up really early and can't sleep untill I've done a couple of sketches etc, bet I'm not the only one here either That's life eh? Keep up the work on the trike, its looking real good. Regards K

Done the same myself recently Rod, another health shot across the bows has FINALLY made me realise that I simply can't go on doing full build ups. I've also been having a big clearout of projects, cars and parts. I'll be putting my heart and soul into creating my final build .However I'll then finish the one that's been sat in the corner for 17 years ! I won't give up though , I'll still tinker as it is also my sanity.

Hi Rod, glad your job is safe (i know what a worry unemployment can be, specially when your abode depends on it!), shame about Mrs Rod, but maybe she can find time for a hobby now! Cleaning out your shed eh.....how long for.......yeah I know, but once things are settled again....

Thanx TB . Yeah ,I know what everyone is thinking! Over the years Ive made statements like ,"This is the last car Im building" .SWMBO just gives me 'the look' and says "Ive heard it all before" BUT this time she believes me ,and I dont think it will be difficult to keep to it ,as I think that all the new regs, enforcement etc has really put the whole car building thing on a slippery slope!Thank gawd for the likes of ace advice and MAG !.....Im just happy to know I got away with building unusual and 'different' stuff for many years, and feel sorry for those coming in to the scene who will have to cope with more and more legislation, although I do believe in some ways it is for the better ,as some stuff people build is a death trap.Plus ,of course,Im 59, and my knees give me gip when crawling around working on stuff nowadays! Perhaps Im sounding melancholy, but they are my true feelings!

Hi Kev Sorry, only just seen your post. Hows things then mate? Rod
Had another cancer scare a year back that shook me up and bit, just had a scan and everything is still OK. Recent MRI shows back has gone from 2 shagged vertebrae and I knackered disc ( now fused itself together ) to all 5 lumbar vertebrae and 4 discs . I need to keep tinkering as just sitting around makes my back seize more. As you say I think our glory days are behind us but there's still ways forward and over at ACE we will still keep doing our King Canute impression.
