Petrol rationing?
«
on:

Did anyone see the headline in the Daily Mail today?
"Now they want to ration petrol: MPs back token scheme as prices are set to hit £8 a gallon by the summer"
Read more:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1350021/Petrol-rationing-proposed-MPs-prices-set-hit-8-gallon-summer.html#ixzz1Bznr7Eqw
I know the Mail's notorious for it's doom & gloom outlook, but still a bit worrying. At this rate, by the time Taz & I get all our projects finished, we won't be able to use them

Just topped the car (just an ordinary mass produced non-performance tin box) with diesel and it cost me over £78 for a nom 50 L tank!! (I had run it low)
Got me thinking to when I had my FS1E back around '76, and petrol was around 75p a gallon.... sigh
Found this pdf from the AA of fuel prices from 1896 – 2004, scary viewing
http://www.theaa.com/public_affairs/reports/Petrol_Prices_1896_todate_gallons.pdf
So maybe the next project should be a pre-war (if 1929 is "pre-war", for the MoT issue being discussed elswhere) petrol tanker...... which might around the 'rationing' issue.....

I have a feeling its the other war. You know, the first one. So you will have to invest in a horse & cart or maybe a steam powered thing and a load of milk churns!!

theres plenty of alternative fuel sources but the goverment doesnt want you to use them as they will loose out on the revenue they get from the oil companies
rape sead oil
chip shop fat ( good for use fat blokes )
methanol ( by producet of beer making good for use beer drinkers )
methane ( good for cows and country smells )
anyway i thought you only ration something when theres not enough of it ?
not because its too expensive

Around Oz on a bike powered by cooking oil. Brilliant.
If we ever get Taz's 6 1/4 litre V8 Dodge Charger on the road, we'll be fitting an LPG tank in the trunk. 10 miles to the gallon on petrol -it'd take a week's wages to go to the shops & back.

i run a 08 dodge ram, 5.7 petrol. put it on gas from day one, April o8. gas was i think 49p litre then. filled up at local Morrison's and is now 73 p. thinking of finding an accommodating farmer. apparently they use it for crop drying and pay no duty. sneak a pump outta sight then run their motors for next to nowt.
