Hi Guys,
New boy here, looking for some help.
I'm triking a Yam 535 and can not get a reliant axle so.....
I want to use a suzuki sj410 rear axle... is there a problem doing this?
Can anyone tell me the direction of rotation of the shaft on the 535 and the sj410 axle...... I don't want to shorten the wrong side of the axle.
OR can anyone tell me how to check the rotation on the bike and the axle without stripping the bike down ?
Thanks for the help.....
Basic and simple questions to you seasoned veterans but not so simple for us new boys.
Thanks again
Take care, have fun, ride safe.
Regards

Where did that 13mm spanner go then?

Hmm, not so simple for us either!
Not heard of the Suzuki axle -is that the little van? What some people call "Sooty vans"? If so I deliver the mail to a sandwich shop which has half a dozen of 'em & could crawl under one & find out!
As for the engine, short of hooking a battery up to it & spinning it over, (I assume there's no kickstart?), I'm not sure. Could try one of the Yamaha Virago owner's club sites, like
http://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~bryanp/
I'm sure they could tell you.
If you want a Reliant axle Ska Man just happens to have a part stripped Reliant sat on his driveway at the moment. As far as I know the axle's surplus & he'll probably part with it for a reasonable price.
Oh, welcome by the way! We're not professionals by any stretch of the imagination -just a bunch of mates messing about in various garages. Always happy to help where we can though. Hope you'll stick around.  Grin

Hello Manky monkey,
Thanks for the welcome.
The suzuki sj410 is the early Jeep, would you be thinking of the suzuki carry, a little like one of those tiny (pocket size ) bedfrod vans.
Where is ska man based, i'm in devon.
Here is some info that may help others in the future, provided the guy that gave it to me was right.....
You can apparently use the axle from the small bedford van, but the diff ratio is really high ( around 8.5:1 ) and you have to change the diff for an sj410 Jeep diff which has a much ower ratio.... not sure what it is though
take care have fun ride safe.
Regards
Keith.

I think that might have been me, Keith, on the yahoo forums. Did you look at that
100%Biker thread which mentioned SJ axles?
