Hi All
Gotta replace the wheel bearings and seals after they took a good mullering when removing the hubs from the shafts! Do I really need a press to do this ? Getting them off the shafts shouldnt be too difficult ,but theyve gotta go on there square aint they? Thinking about adapting my tube bender into a press, but will 12 ton do it?

Can`t see any reason why you couldn`t press them on with 12tons of pressure, i`m not wholy convinced by your comment of getting them off though  Wink

Received the new bearings. Removed old ones easily with a grinder.Does anyone know if there is a right and wrong way to fit them? Or are they built symetrically? Seem to remember that the identification markings on the extreme outer rim of the bearing face inward? Old ones too cruddy to see the lettering so cant tell!

'phoned the supplier. They can be fitted either way round apparently.

Didn't spot this thread Rod. I think if they had to go a particular way round it would be pretty obvious, like there'd be a plastic dust seal over one side, etc. I've just bought a pair of rear wheel bearings for the back of my Pop project -about 4 inches across & hugely expensive.
