HI everyone
My reliant 850 oil pressure at tickover seems very low when engine hot, what is normal or is this common . When engine is revved up it rises to about 35 to 40 on the old guage . Oil is new and nothing is knocking in the engine it sounds quite sweet. Is it possible that the oil pump needs replacing if so can this be done without a complete rebuild? happy christmas everyone.... Grin Smiley Cheesy

Hi Brains. Can't really help you on that one I'm afraid as I've never had a Reliant with a pressure gauge. Personally, if everything sounds O.K, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you're concerned though, try giving the guys at Michaels of Selby a ring. Reliant spares specialists & all round helpful chaps.

As far as changing the pump's concerned, you can do it in situ, by dropping off the sump. The pump's held by two nuts, (can't remember the spanner size). Not a lot to go wrong with them, but I've got a couple of second hand ones if you need one, (condition unknown).

oil pressure with a hot motor is only around 10 psi at tickover  and about 45 psi on the move  so dont panic Grin you could also clean out the pressure relief valve as a piece of mind

Believe this is Manky's favorite answer to that question or most anything concerned with Reliant spares. Grin Grin Grin Grin Wink

I don't get a commision from them -honest!
I'll only recommend people I know do what they say they do -& Michaels have always been spot on with their advice & service. If anyone else can recommend a decent Reliant spares business, feel free to give 'em a plug.

Sorry, don't how that got on this thread, I was replying to Steve's question on Reliant oil seals and you was'nt on line at the time Andy, but GPZ beat me anyway.  So I was just giving him your highly recommended suppliers.  But if there is a commision going i'm willing to share. Grin Grin Grin
