Taz & I were down Sussex way at Beachy Head this evening, enjoying a very pleasant pub meal. When we left we drove along the clifftop road & came across this guy. I've never seen an emergency chaplain before. It actually had "Chaplain" written in huge letters along the front doors. I know it's a serious subject & I'm sure they perform a much needed service, (for those that don't know, Beachy Head's a favourite jumping off point for the terminally depressed), but the thought of him flicking on his flashing amber lights & siren & racing off to the rescue just amused us.
I remember reading in the paper last year that the Samaritans had applied to the local council to install a phone line to their counselling service on the clifftop. The council wouldn't let them as it contravened their planning regs, but said they could put one at the
bottom of the cliffs!
