Nice, clean simple design. Tried & tested -hundreds on the road so they must be O.K -but that's also the problem. Being a kit, they all look the same, like a Caterham/Lotus 7/Dutton for example. They only vary in the level of finish the builders invest in them. Not a one-off design, so at some point you'll park up somewhere & another near identical machine will pull up next to you, but that also means all the foreseeable problems have been encountered before many times &, (hopefully), ironed out. As they say, you pays yer money & takes yer choice.

Keith. I don't know what facilities you have there, but I think you could build your self a frame for a lot less than that, and buy one of those budget fibreglass bodies off ebay for 200-odd.
Have a look at-http://members.tripod.com/slacker_gsroadart/
He uses a frame made with 2 x 3 rectangular box section, and it looks a lot stronger than the Pheonix one. Hundreds of yanks have built them so they must be ok.
Hope you don't mind my 2 1/2 pence worth.

Thanks Doug, I've had a good look and all the info is there but I've had a really mental idea  there are a few non running goldwings about at the moment. Can anyone tell me if a reliant engine and gearbox would fit. Yes, before anyone says it the wing lump would have to come out  Thanks again K

I would gues that there is plenty of room in a Gold Wing frame.
I have some pics of bare frames I took off E bay. I will post them asap.
I can't find the pics I have, which is annoying. I just got his one off ebay-US. There is nothing on the UK site.

Thanks again Doug, I think what I will do is look for a non runner and go from there. Have you any idea of the size and weight of a reliant engine and gearbox. Like overall length and height? Thanks again Regards K

No worry. Try not to chop the frame up too much, or it will be too 'modified'. If you could make a small subframe up which hung off the swingarm mounts, you could fit a four link system, and perhaps get away with saying the back end is bolt on.

I own an original phoenix and it is pretty awful, the frame flexes and on mine ( it is an original) none of the brakets and bars line up with each other...it was so bad I called it Horrie...short for Trikus Horribilis...I will be building a new frame for it when I finish the current build

Our trikes are seriously over engineered for the horse power but at least we know they're safe.

you certainly have that right. i see some right botched up trikes at my place which have been bought in good faith.

Trouble is Wynne, a lot of Joe Public can't see the difference & happily risk life & limb on machines I wouldn't ride to the end of the carpark. All they see is the shiny paintjob.
