Is this foot and mouth outbreak going to affect your travelling to shows or is it only cloven hoofed animals that are restricted?  And does your boss have cattle or sheep?

I can't believe they are still carrying on the same old policies that have never worked in the past.  There was an 'expert' on TV saying that the spread of the disease is due to modern intensive farming but I was working on farms in the big outbreak back in the 60s and culling didn't work then even tho the government swung into action straight away.

We should have vaccination like they do on the continent.

Hi Bobbi.
Just been speaking to Tazzie by text. She's in Cumbria at the moment, competing at a carriage driving event, then going straight on to Scotland from there so won't be back here till the 13th.
She said yes, it'll make a hell of a lot of extra work for her & will mean no more shows for her team. I'm assuming that means it affects horses. As well as their own team of ponies, the estate is also home to a dozen other horses, who's owners pay to stable them there. So I suppose they won't be able to take them out of the grounds for the duration. They had sheep on the estate until about 6 months ago. Don't remember seeing any cattle.

Cheers Manky.  Thought of Tazet straight away when I heard the news.

Fortunately tho the restrictions may affect the horses, the disease does not.

Hi Bobbi sorry it's been a long while getting back to you but as Manky said I've been away. Foot and mouth has not affected us and competitions are still on, but movement of livestock is not allowed. We are just within the surveillance 10k and can still move horses to and from shows. We have straw and disinfectant in place on the entrances too.
