Young Tazet & I took a drive out to Avebury in Wiltshire yesterday.
More info here if you've never heard of it:

http://www.mankymonkeymotors.co.uk/visit.htm

A bright & breezy Spring morning -just right for a stroll among the standing stones to blow the Winter cobwebs away. Lots of sight-seers there, mainly families, but also a VW camper full of middle aged hippes, who insisted on walking around the circles, earnestly discussing leylines & cosmic energy & touching every stone. As we left they were sat around one of the meridian stones, holding hands & no doubt being very mystical & deep. Wonder if they knew half the stones were uprooted & moved by the local landowner less than 100 years ago.
A nice place though. Very tranquil. Well, apart from the 30 or so members of the Great Western Harley Owners Group who were also there. We enjoyed a huge lunch in the local hostelry then another quick jaunt to walk it off a bit, before heading home, stopping off in Marlborough on the way to visit my big bro, Brock. Not sure which impresses me most -his Black Pig chevy engined drag car, the new car he's building, or the huge ex library van he's customising to transport them in.
A very pleasant day out.

Nope. Oh, alright then.
Some of us were born with the photogenic gene & some weren't. I wasn't one of the lucky ones so I prefer to hide behind the camera.
I'm very cute though.

My favourite place there is the stone avenue on one of the roads out of the village.  The stone circle doesn't do a thing for me but standing in the avenue I really could feel something - yep, even cynical old me!

Yep that's Gertie.   Same day, just round a couple corners - Silbury Hill...
