We actually had to go to two different schools. Same name different locations. The first one was quite sprawling, laid out in lots of grounds which were mainly grass. Brick building so not too hot in the Summer. It was a great place. In about our fourth year we were moved to a glass school surrounded by concrete in the middle of a housing estate. I'm pretty sure our old location was taken over by the neighbouring Catholic school.
We took our O Levels in the Summer of 1976. If you remember it was the hottest Summer, at that time, since weather records began. We all had to sit at desks in a hall surrounded by glass. We might as well have been in a greenhouse! I'm pretty sure that building is still there so I wonder how its current students are getting on in this heat!
About 6 years ago I drove to the original location thinking I would drive in and look around. Ha. Like I said. Houses everywhere. I think it was built in the 50s so you would have thought it could have lasted longer than it did.
