Often what DVLA tell you is WRONG ( no surprise there really! ). A lot depends on when mods done etc as at least 3 different schemes have been used through the years. Most who know the old systems have retired from DVLA hence the issues.

DO NOT take dvla at their word, if they are wrong, they will deny they ever said it,
if vosa etc decide its wrong, NOTHING from dvla will turn them,,,,
dvla are a bunch of untrained idiots
