A gorgeous sunny afternoon here in Surrey today, so on my way to the local supermarket I called in at Newlands Corner, a well known beauty spot & gathering place for all sorts of interesting vehicles. Mainly families making the most of the last couple of days of the school holidays, but among them was this lovely little thing. Austin Ruby? Beats a tatty Transit any day!

You see a lot more classics on the roads nowadays with many choosing similar vehicles to Bob's for modern businesses. I saw one the other day for a cupcake business (which seems to be the in thing) and the artwork on the side of it illustrated their appeal. I suppose people have cottoned on to the fact the retro look is fashionable, but even if they haven't, they appreciate the relatively low cost of running a classic (no tax, low insurance and fairly simple mechanics). You just have to make sure you buy a sound vehicle to begin with otherwise those costs can soon escalate. It is nice to see these classics on the road, as it really breaks up the monotony of the sameness of modern cars. JJ
